Thames Water X SymTerra: Building Bottom-Up Electronic Asset Management Systems
Join Thames Water and SymTerra on Wednesday, 28th February from 10:00-12:00 to hear about how you can redefine how works on trunk sewers and their assets are communicated and leveraged within your organisation.
Entering sewers is high-risk, which can be compounded by poor communication and key information being absent, incomplete, incorrect, or outdated. To improve the process, Thames Water worked alongside SymTerra and their supply chain to create an industry first: a system-agnostic, open-source Building Information Modelling (BIM) programme, developed without the use of a single CAD file.
Learn how Thames Water transformed communication and increased compliance amongst operational teams and their contractors through SymTerra, who’s technology offers real-time works information across 110,000km of sewer networks in Thames and a simple way for field teams to effectively plan and prioritise safe work by using ‘what3words’, which is integrated across all versions of the app.
SymTerra have revolutionised data management within Thames Water by providing the ability to instantly generate reports with photos, locations, and time stamps, which are easily shareable with key stakeholders. The platform has been designed as a mobile-first application, offering voice-dictation to effectively reduce the number of clicks needed while building necessary reports in the field. When back in the office, the data collected can be easily integrated with other company systems.
The platform offers companies a way to build a reliable pipeline of real-time asset information, directly from the point of work.
Richard Dennett, Project Delivery Manager at Thames Water, said: “There are often several stakeholders involved in operational work, which can lead to confusion and frustrations. Thanks to the work done with SymTerra, we now have simple and effective works communications across our network, have reduced our confined space entries and improved the visibility of the status of our assets.”
